Which of these cases sounds like you?

  • Retail Lemon · laid-off waiter planning his own business at a bar counter

  • Retail Lemon · store manager taking the leap to open her own shop

Opening a business, sector by sector

The numbers change a lot depending on the type of business. These are the openings we support most in Spain.

  • Open a shop

Fashion, footwear, gifts or specialist retail: initial stock investment, window display, rotation and real margin per square metre.

  • Open a restaurant

Food costing, a profitable menu, activity licence with kitchen, extraction, terrace and staff cost per shift.

  • Open a bar or café

Average ticket, peak hours, lease with goodwill transfer, equipment and agreements with drinks distributors.

  • Open a bakery

Oven fit-out, energy costs, daily waste, production by time slot and a sustainable selling price.

  • Open a hair or beauty salon

Bookings per chair, team commissions, service pricing, product cross-selling and loyalty packages.

  • Open a pharmacy or parapharmacy

Requirements and transfer, assortment investment, regulated versus free-sale margins and tight stock control.

  • Open a florist or gourmet shop

Perishable stock, waste, strong seasonality and the fit between price, location and footfall.

  • Open a gym

Membership pricing and launch acquisition, fit-out and soundproofing, licences, capacity and break-even per member.

  • Open a franchise

Entry fee, royalties, territory exclusivity and an honest comparison between a franchise and your own brand.

What we review before you sign anything

The first steps make the difference. These are the checkpoints where most money is won (or lost).

  • Fit-out and premises works

Compared quotes, realistic build timelines and checks on water, power, extraction and accessibility before you commit.

  • Lease contract and clauses

Term, deposit, rent-free period, who pays for works, transfer and exit: negotiated before signing, not after.

  • Staff contracts

Applicable collective agreement, contract type, shifts, real hourly cost and minimum viable headcount.

  • Supplier negotiation

Payment terms, minimum orders, freight, volume discounts and sale-or-return so you don't fund all the opening stock.

  • Tax and legal structure

Sole trader or company, VAT and equivalence surcharge, social security and your obligations calendar from day one.

  • Licences and funding

Activity and works licences, mandatory insurance and matching the investment to savings, loans or available grants.

Common questions before opening

How much money do I need to open a shop or a restaurant in Spain?

It depends on the premises, the fit-out and the stock or equipment. In the initial study we calculate total investment (deposit, works, licences, equipment, stock and cash buffer) and break-even with your own numbers, not sector averages.

Does it work for hospitality (bar, café, restaurant) or only retail?

Both. Food costing, licences and shifts differ, but the method is the same: feasibility, premises, contracts, suppliers, staff and tax before you sign.

Do you review the lease and the licences?

Yes. We review term, deposit, rent-free period, works, transfer and exit clauses, plus activity and works licences, mandatory insurance and legal structure.

What if I do not have premises yet?

Even better: the biggest savings happen before you choose. We analyse areas, footfall, competition and the maximum rent your margin can carry.

What does it cost and what is included?

The Launch Plan is a single upfront payment of €4,200 and includes 6h of feasibility and opening study, 24h of consolidation mentoring across 12 months, 12 months of Panel PRO, the supplier network and operational support.

Already open but not taking off?

If your shop, restaurant or bar is running but the numbers do not add up, start with a profitability diagnosis and a turnaround roadmap.
